Our Process

The majority of our work is done in a design/build arrangement, where both the design and construction of a project are under our umbrella. Here is how that process works with us.

Initial Meeting

We will meet with you at your home to discuss your needs and ideas. Subsequent meetings may be required, but we will work quickly to move to the next step so that you will gain an early understanding of the available options and costs of your project.

Rough Estimate

The scope of work and budget presented in the rough estimate are based on the design information and project specs collected to this point. There is no cause for concern if you aren't ready to specify all of your design choices. We will make assumptions where we need to, and the resulting budget will be a reasonable target for you to work towards, and end up with the finished product you're looking for.

Design Contract

Once Dynamo Home Improvement and the homeowner have agreed on a basic scope of work and target price, a design contract is presented. This agreement represents a commitment by both parties to proceed to the design phase of the process, where the design and project specifications will be developed and finalized. At this point, a deposit is made, an architecture partner is engaged, and the project is added to our production schedule with a target commencement date.

Design Phase

Even if you've been thinking about your project for several years, it is often difficult to visualize just what it will look like in the end. The design phase is where those ideas start to take shape on paper. Our design/build team will collaborate with you to create a home that meets your needs aesthetically, functionally and economically. After an initial meeting with the entire team to determine just what those needs are, the real fun begins – concept drawings are presented, revisions are made, subcontractors are brought in to evaluate existing conditions and submit bids, design details are specified, and material selections begin. Throughout this process, we are able to monitor how the decisions being made are impacting the overall cost of the project, and make adjustments accordingly. Eventually, we arrive at a final design, scope of work and price.

Construction

Construction will commence following the receipt of the necessary building permits. Depending on the nature of your project, construction can last anywhere from a few months to over a year. Regular site meetings will help ensure that everyone is on the same page, and our project management system will keep you constantly informed of everything you need to know - project schedule, upcoming decisions, project finances, etc. Upon completion, you'll receive all of the project details in digital format, and you'll have a two year warranty on our work.
